Latest news from Heri Special School, Tanzania (May 2020)

With the global Coronavirus pandemic, Heri Special School is currently closed and its’ children at home until lockdown has been lifted in Tanzania. Head Teacher Safina has told us that she and her staff are making weekly visits to the children at their homes. This poses a host of new challenges for the team but Safina reports that they are all well and happy and safe. Their eyes are still firmly on their goals for this year which include buying new teaching materials, cultivating potatoes and planting 1,000 trees (they’ve already planted 300 this year!).

Their main aim remains the registration and recognition of the school by the Tanzanian government. In order to achieve this they still need to build a covered walkway to the toilets and buy new tables so, among the many other things that are needed at the school (such as a new kitchen and washing equipment) these are the priority. The St Jude Foundation would love to be able to help Heri Special School achieve their dream of government recognition. In order to do this, we ask that you donate here, if you are able to help in any way.
